Better to fail or never attempt?

Is it worse to fail at something or never attempt it in the first place?

Always fail to regret.

Depends on context! In the words of Thomas Edison, "I have not failed 1000 times, I have successfully discovered 1000 ways to NOT make a light bulb."

In my view, the person(s) that has not tried to succeed (at something worthy of attempting), has failed.
