The Legend of Tomyris

Just watched this amazing story of the warrior queen Tomyris who defeated and beheaded the Persian emperor Cyrus the Great.

I thought her story was amazing and rather exceptional in the times of the 6th century that was dominated by empires and firece tribes ruled by men.

Tomyris was the queen of the Massagetae, an Iranian people from a Scythian pastoral-nomadic confederation of Central Asia east of the Caspian Sea, in parts of modern-day Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, western Uzbekistan, and southern Kazakhstan. She reigned in the 6th century BC.
