I follow Dr. Jonathan Dworkin, here in Hawaii, who surmises that the variants coming from South Africa might have gotten their foothold because of the high number of residents with HIV. The vaccinations aren't as effective on those recovering from HIV because they are on drugs that suppress the immune system. I'll find the article and post it separately.

Varients occur because too many people get covid. Fauci seems to think that vaccinated people, especially those who've gotten the booster, may get the varient but it should be a mild case.

Covid will keep coming back because there's too many people who refuse vaccinations or can't get one because they live in a third world country.
