From the poem, "If You Ask If I'm A Christian."
To deny existence of a God meant dreadful persecution,
An excruciating, pain-filled fate as means of execution,
To merely question dogma or propound new explanation
Of natural phenomena invited swift damnation.
Religion, especially Abrahamic religion, should be severely ostracised if it does not tolerate "heretical" ideas by others.
