Correct. It's not about the sanctity of life, nor the quality of life.
I also wonder about their long term plan... if poor black and brown women are forced to have unwanted babies, that means more black and brown babies, which is not likely the intention of the right, if I am reading them correctly. Yes, I said that bluntly.
The rich white women can book a flight to a safe abortion state (even Hawaii) until the whole county is banned from safe abortions. Still the rich ones will be able to visit another country or find doctors in the states who will perform an illegal abortion for the right price. This is not a rich persons problem, but has serious consequences from poor but good girls, in the wrong place, with judgmental parents, partners or bosses, who will become such an obstacle that suicide seems the only answer.
It was never about the sanctity of life. If so, they wouldn't JUST care about the fetus but also the health, well-being, and education of the child... regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or income level.
In my 20s, I wore a button from the National Abortion Rights Action League:
Keep Your Rosaries
Off My Ovaries
Today I drive around with a sign in the back window of my car:
Keep Your Theology
Off My Biology
The fight for control of our own bodies never ends. Goddamn Republicans!!!
