It has to be said perhaps that it was really the church under Constantine's rule, rather than Constantine himself, who came up with the idea. Constantine may even have remained nominally pagan until his deathbed, and even then there are doubts about the historical accuracy of his conversion.

Not trying to be a pedant, just thought it was interesting. ( Well OK I don't have to try, it just comes naturally. )
