Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Actual facts in his words BUT the maps look like "now" when in fact, for just one example, there were large inland seas in the center of the USA, and no Florida.....makes me wonder whose idea (using Very Faulty maps!) that was.......

I think it is a matter of their not trusting that their potential audience could take in both claimate changes and ancient geography. In order for new ideas to make an impact they often heave to presented in the context of something familiar so it is relatable.
The model of the atom we were all taught in school isn't really what atoms are like, but it is a useful tool for teaching using a model we can actually visualize. It is kind of like that.
