What influence does the early 1930's great Russian famine have on today's war in Ukraine?

Just watched the movie "Mr Jones". It is about the Welsh journalist who whistleblew on Stalin's engineered starvation of millions of people including Ukrainians during the 1933-35 period.
An American journalist probably continuing long established US standard outstandingly denied Jones's report. Malcolm Muggeridge, a British journalist who attempted to report the truth about the grisly events unfolding in Ukraine, later described Duranty as “the greatest liar of any journalist I have met in fifty years of journalism.” Muggeridge chose his words carefully. -
