With the article’s words, L1527 doesn't generate its own energy through nuclear fusion of hydrogen yet, an essential characteristic of stars, NASA fucked up,

More than a century ago, decades before anyone sent probes to investigate the sun, the English astronomer Arthur Eddington had no evidence for his claim of nuclear fusion powering stars.

Nuclear decay had recently been found and Eddington, unable to imagine anything hotter, imagined nuclear fusion.

Further, Eddington saw light refracted as it passed through the matter drawn to stars by their gravity, and similarly imagined the curvature that Einstein had claimed. In doing so, Eddington made Einstein famous.
