I posted this on another website in response to the many Christians who espouse the opinion that Christmas should be all about Jesus Christ and nothing else. It's "Merry Christmas" and not "Happy Holidays"

Ah Christmas time again. Christmas trees, mistletoe, lights, shiny tinsel, Santa, reindeer, elves, gift buying and receiving and family gathering. Those and many other Christmas traditions are firmly pagan rituals. None of them have anything whatsoever to do with the celebration of the birth of Christ.

If one wants Christmas to be all about Christ then make it so. Get rid of your trees, lights, Santa, gift giving, family gatherings, etc. Instead pick up your bible and read it. Go to church and do what you do there. Leave the pagan traditions for the pagans. Keep Christmas all about Christ and leave all the fun stuff for the pagans/heathens.
