Republican House members vote against helping foreigner members of the military get help becoming US citizens. In the 70's, we had a lot of sailors from other nations. Many of the "shit" jobs, especially in supply and food service and laundry were manned by Phillipinos. Two of our best soccer players were from the Caribbean, one even held a secret clearance. Back then, a Canadian friend said his serving made it easier for him to get dual citizenship.
Not sure when all that changed. Now, especially with a recruiting lull, one would think getting recruits and keeping them would be a priority.
Full disclosure - this is a very liberal leaning site. However, the vote is still the same.

I'm not a big fan of Marines (most are cons who despise equal rights for all but love proving how macho they are) but voting against them was sad. If an immigrant can't gain citizenship by serving our nation without it then we have no sense of honor.
