Just to Clarify, when an IT department offloads something to "the cloud" it really means you are just paying someone else to do it. It's still on servers somewhere, virtual or not, you just don't own them. It's like thinking moving from owning to renting is a good thing. You become a cog in somebody else's wheel and have to submit a help ticket for every turn.

Who else knows what people store to the cloud?

Do people lose copyright ownership of what they store to the cloud?

Not if they had the copyright to begin with.
