@Admin. There seems to be a new feature; an audible 'tinkle' every time a notification arrives.

I really don't like it. How am I able to turn it off please?

Yeah, it's way too loud. There is a toggle in settings to turn it off. We'll make it much softer tomorrow. It should only sound once while you're on a page no matter how many alerts you get.
