Why the USA doesn't use the metric system?

Why the rest of the world uses the metric system and America uses the standard system that in my opinion is totally nonsense ?

Level 4

The reason goes back to the colonial days. We use the measurement system England used until they switched to metric. But in 1776 both America and UK were using the same measurement system.
