Any Hashimotos people here?
Me. I remember when my thyroid tanked. I had been doing some physical work around the house and could not understand why my muscles were so sore and why I was so tired. Also had been doing a gym thing two or three times a week. One day, walking up the stairs at the gym, I just decided I was too tired to continue. Don't recall how long after that the diagnosis came, but the doc at the time was not up on current normal ranges for TSH and under medicated me. When I told him I was still tired, he told me it was due to my lifestyle.
Decided to go to an endo who doubled the dose and my thyroid has been more or less fine since then. Has been an easy disease to deal with.
Yup me.
Has it been difficult for you?
Since getting on the replacement hormone I’ve been feeling pretty good, although I wasn’t nearly as symptomatic as some people (my daughter for one)
@Haemish1 Getting diagnosed was a pain. They had to do a thyroid scan to figure it out and I was horribly depressed for no apparent reason for 3 years prior to that.
With replacement therapy I've been ok.
My Mom had this too - so I was familiar with how it goes.
I've also got PCOS so it's complicated sometimes. My first Endocrinologist was a genius though and that's served me really well.
Are you on Synthroid?
@Sydland Yes. I actually took a very specific drug for a while and for the life of me I will have to look it up? lol It did not work any differently for me - but it made a difference for my Mom. "Thyrolar" I believe.
I've also had to go on Antibiotics from time to time for actual thyroid enlargement due to infection. That was not a blast. It hasn't happened in years though.
I was supposed to have it and was on thyriod medication for 26 years after doing a lot of research I'm off the meds for the last two years which apparently can't be done or you die and I feel much better.
That’s exciting!
Are your thyroid levels normal now?
@Haemish1 yes they are
