Well, there's normal pain and the other pain.
I had a doctor once say that I'm just super sensitive to pain because I'm a woman and that to me a paper cut feels like an amputation. I walked out of his office and immediately requested a new doctor that isn't a sexist asshole.
Alas it has been a common problem for me. I had a Male obgyn tell my PCOS and endometriosis were only painful because my hormones made me irrational.
That's what the comic is making fun of, those doctors that think women are always exaggerating.
@LadyAlyxandrea I AM more sensitive to pain. I often need more anesthetic when at the dentist. We usually find this out after they start work.
I don't have a decent doc right now but am not in the mood to look. I've been better of late and hope that holds till I can afford to shop for a new doc.
My Pain Clinic Nurse Practitioner just stared at me with a goofy expression on her face when I said "fine". And waited. rofl
I really like her a lot. She gets it.
I'm a woman - we do not tell the truth about our pain levels - ever. I also have chronic intractable pain and we try not to frighten the world.
"I'm fine" means "I don't feel like screaming right now or crying - so I'm doing okay". Fine is a 5 on the pain scale of 1 to 10 btw. The average person would be taking a lie down.
I always tell them "on my pain scale or yours?" Because my 4 is a normal persons 9. They chuckle but when they give me joint shots or realize they did a procedure with a kink in my i.v. so I didnt get any meds they all go "woah you really do have a strong pain threshold"
Yeah
Because every single day I feel like my muscles are being peeled from my body with a crowbar. A little needle in my joint is nothing compared to what I live with.
Posted by Sonja44Sums it up.
Posted by Sonja44This meme cracks me up. I'm Fine.
Posted by PiperMckennaAlways cold + sick days = Mermaid. Sometimes living with peoples who like the AC isn't such a bad thing.
Posted by PiperMckennaI'm quite prone to bruising because of EDS....any tips on how to reduce the look of bruises? Ideally I'd like to prevent them. But it's too late for that today. haha
