So doc cleaned out my incisions and reglued them shut. Apparently for whatever reason those two just don't want to heal shut and that's why they keep getting infected. She hopes the glue will urge them to shut but if they don't start closing by next week she will have to stitch them. Luckily she said what they're seeping isn't actually puss but some sort of muscle/skin protein that looks a lot like pus and is not uncommon, so they aren't as infected as I imagined they were.
She also told me I'm very obviously not getting enough sleep to help my healing and told me to sleep more, but I'm already sleeping as much as I can right now. So I don't know what to do about that.
On the plus side the other two holes are healing nicely one's almost completely healed and the other is scabbed over nicely
Are you getting enough protein in your diet?
That was something I learned about when I was trying to heal a hole in me from surgery with a radiation burn on top of it. You need protein to heal. Something about building blocks - blah blah...
If you're having trouble eating enough even Carnation breakfast drink added to milk will help.
Boiled eggs or cheese or Greek yogurt as a snack is good too.
I know really - license to eat more? But it's just to help you heal. And none of those is terriible as snacks.
I got read the riot act by a nurse with three other women in the Radiation waiting room - none of us had any appetite so she read us in on what we could do.
Maybe try to get to bed a tad earlier? Yeah I know. Hard enough to sleep right?
Glad the Dr didn't think it was anything awful. That's good news.
