Interesting development
So for as long as I've had my pain, steroids of any kind have done...well...nothing.
So a few weeks ago I developed pitiriusis rosea, a viral infection like chicken pox that covers your body in a massive amount of ringworm like circles, but goes away on its own and you'll never get it again. Anyway, to help combat the unpleasant leprosy-looking skin issues they gave me a rather humongous dose of steroid, injected into my poor bum....
Well don't you know those two weeks were the most pain free I've had since... well since I was born.
Now, the problem here is that long term steroids gave me diabetes. I've never had a good reaction to them and they never helped before. That one must have been a fluke or something right? However I can't return to constantly taking steroids, they'll put me in ketoacidosis or turn me into a big green rage monster....or worse
But I'm craving those few days where I woke up and didn't immediately reach for my medicine. Where I didn't feel like my neck, back, and arms were constantly being electrocuted and burned. Oh what a life I could have if I felt like that all the time.
But what am I to do? It doesn't make sense how they never helped before, yet now they magically do, and long term is NOT an option. Ever. I won't trade one disease for worse.
This also leads me to speculate that the problems are almost entirely based on muscular inflammation compressing everything. CT scan of my neck showed massive inflammation too, and yet all the combinations of anti-inflammatory medicines can't seem to calm it down.
I am perplexed on many fronts
Um, you get it once and don't get it again if your immune system works well enough. I've had chicken pox three times. And before anyone suggests the vaccine, vaccines don't encourage my body to produce antibodies. I caught measles from the vaccine twice, and I caught whooping cough the year after the DTaP that gave me horrible side effects.
Good luck, I want 420 to be legalized since I know it helps me.
I've only had chicken pox once, but it lasted a while, and I've had whooping cough 3 times in 5 years
@LadyAlyxandrea, whooping cough is another one you're only supposed to be able to catch once.
@TaraMarshall well at least this time if I get it again at least I'll know what it is because for a while there I was wondering if I had leprosy
@LadyAlyxandrea, get checked for Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders. A lot of people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome have them.
I also was on a round of steroids before they diagnosed my fibromyalgia. Made me feel great! I just went to an integrative doctor. He gave me over an hour appt and reviewed all my prior tests and labs. He believes I have a number of issues that no other doctor mentioned, including Hashimoto's. I can't wait for my bloodwork results to come back to see if he was right. But man, what a difference this doctor made. I actually have some hope for answers.
