I was told today that I have extremely low vitamin D. Getting me on a supplement. Hoping this is what is the cause of my fibromyalgia. It's not very common to have vitamin D levels checked and the symptoms of deficiency mimic fibromyalgia symptoms.

Here's an article on fibromyalgia [lifeextension.com] They recommend also checking your red-blood-cell magnesium level for possible deficiency.

My vitamin D is OK(45), but lately I have developed symptoms of Hashimoto. I've started supplementing selenium and kelp every day, and am thinking I may need to go on the lectin-free diet. Does anyone have any experience with that? I love tomatoes and peppers,so that would be a significant change for me.

I was also told to keep an eye on lectins. We thought I would come back as Hashimoto's, but my thyroid is just sluggish. I've read the data on vit D deficiency and it makes sense, but it can't be that easy! Hope to feel am improvement soon.

Yeah... we've lived there before and that's how we dealt with the heat too. I'll have to remember the vitamin D. I hope your Fibro improves!

My D is chronically low. Supplementation only helps so much because I have multiple GI disorders that cause malabsorption. I may be the only person in Phoenix who never wears sunscreen.

I think most of us with low D are likely dealing with malabsorption issues at some level. I'm sure I am.

My D is very low as well. I supplement with 5000 IUs D3 daily. I've had "fibro" since 1989. A year ago I found out that what I've really been dealing with all this time is Lyme disease and several of the coinfections. I'm not suggesting that you have Lyme, but rather that figuring it out can be a really tricky knot to unravel. I wish you the best of luck.

I need to get retested for Lyme. Chronic Lyme.

If you have an older infection, you might show some bands positive, but probably not enough to get a CDC positive result. Mine is a clinical diagnosis based on my history, my symptoms, the area of the country I lived in, my CD57 short panel results, having some bands positive on the Lyme test, and testing positive for several Lyme disease coinfections.

Mine has been very low over the past three-four years. (Down to 8). I’ve had fibromyalgia since 1991; seems not to be related in my case.

I wish you luck.

However I've been on Vitamin D since I was diagnosed with Cancer 9 years ago. (I too was tested and they found very low levels).

I had a little more energy.

Perhaps your results will differ. Good luck!

You're in the sunshine state. How is it possible you're not getting D? (I ask as someone relocating to your city next month-- genuinely curious).

Actually, people in the sunniest areas tend to have the lowest levels of vitamin D, largely because they're so good at putting on sunscreen every day.

@TaraMarshall Thank you for explaining that. I do plan on slathering it on. lol.

@TaraMarshall Yup, accurate. It's too hot in the summer so I don't venture outside!

@Alimacbean, I live in Phoenix and bicycle year round!

@TaraMarshall That's a dry heat.

@Lysistrata I like the dry heat better. Visited Arizona in August one year, 104 degrees... I was fine!

@Lysistrata, Doesn't matter much when it's 115F.
