There's a species of moth here on the southern US that makes the same sort of coccoon iin juniper bushes.
so maybe there's still hope & they won't be eating my winter rug soon.
Ooh I’ve seen them here in Houston area. Last year, I think. They were new to me.
Australia, huh? Lol maybe they’re not the same species, but they looked very similar.
the global insectoid overtake
ohohoh, i just got knowledgeable: they will be organic fiber munching casebearer moths when they're grown up. but i did find them outside
What do you think, will they eat plastic waste too (that's made from organic material too). In that case, after they have consumed the overload of plastic in the oceans, they likely will become quite pest.
@Gert haha, don't we wish! but sure, if even birds - with a most probably higher survival instinct (or do they?) - get fooled into plastic matter being not only nesting material, but also food, it is likely that the cloth moth will feast indiscriminately on synthetic fiber too.
@walklightly I've been trying to trick fish into thinking plastic and wooden items are food for a long time. Sometimes I'm pretty successful. Good luck with the moths though.
I don't know. what I do know is they stay in that made up skin/cocoon for protection.
yep, nice worm too.
@walklightly they look interesting and I would say its more likely a caterpiller

Posted by InsectraA cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.
