I served in the the Army Reserve for several decades and over the years I participated in dozens of Remembrance Day ceremonies in Canada. Usually the weather was the typical November mix of cold winds, rain, snow and/or all of the above yet thousands showed up and took a moment to recognize the sacrifices others made for them.
Is there any irony in the fact that in year when few can attend their local events, the weather will be very warm and sunny (where I live ) . . . how 2020-ish
I think the weather is usually so bad on rememberence day is to help us remember what it was like to be over there
I've often thought the same thing
Because it isn't said enough:
Thank you Canada for all the help and support your great nation has been for the United States. I'm sorry about the Trump administration, Trump doesn't even respect our own fallen hero's, much less anyone else. Yet every time we called you guys came to help, it's a thing many of us US vets are grateful for.
Please don't give up on us, even though you have plenty of reason to.
We have always supported each other (War of Independence and War of 1812 notwithstanding LOL) .and we will in the future too I'm sure. Had many friends who served in Afghanistan in integrated Canada/US units - many paid a high price.
But many noted they could not understand how someone who cheated to get out of serving their country and slurred the sacrifices of those who did serve could be be elected to the highest office in the land - truly staggering and can't wait to see the last of him
@bookofmorons Yea, well bigots down here were afraid they wouldn't be represented until Trump crawled out from under his rock.
@Willow_Wisp Sad isn't it.
@bookofmorons Very sad
Thanks for your kind words about Canada ,Where there is always a just cause to fight ,we will be there with you
Here, we've been having record-breaking indian summer weather for a week now.
My brother is an officer in the Canadian army. More than 20 years of service now and still active. He spent three missions, a total of two years, in Afghanistan. Driving an armoured troop carrier, he was involved in several combat situations with the Taliban.
I thank him for his service.
Thanking him also ,I live in Trenton home of 8 Wing where all the fallen soldiers were brought back to and the convoys carrying there bodys up the Highway of Heros
well the bigots that support him only represent cannon fodder to him so he can get his way
