I have a bigger problem with right wing Christians taking over the Canadian politics. I was not a fan of Harper.

There are no Islamic parities in Canada. In fact, there are no religious parties of any kind, unless one counts the Knights of Columbus. Most mainstream religions are well represented in all the official parties, both federally and provincially.

technically the Christian Heritage party would qualify but someone would actually have to vote for them lol
@bookofmoron I could be wrong, but I don't think that they are an official, registered party in spite of the name.
@Arouet they have run candidates around here but that was at least a decade ago
no such thing but being hyped by various right wing scare mongers . . . .

We had a Quebec separatist party in official opposition... the world didn’t end. Given that the Canadian Parliamentary system selects a leader based on the leader of the party with the most ridings won ( Our first past the post system does not require winning the popular vote) there is a very low probability that they would ever crack the Liberal/ Conservative party dynasty if they ever tried to be elected. Canada is a secular country. We don’t have “god” written on our currency, There are pictures of scientists and scientific endeavours though... In all honesty, I fear right wing conservative nut jobs more... they are a bigger threat.

Actually we do have "god" written on our currency, though it is well hidden. Look at any Canadian coin. You'll see "Elizabeth II D.G. Regina". On older coins, it was written out in full: "Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina" = "Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God, Queen".
??? There are Muslims in Canada and Hindus and Sikhs, plus every other imaginable religious affiliation but we don't have religious political parties. Granted a lot of Fundamentalist Xstians tend to gravitate towards the more Right Wing Parties but I suspect the same would be said for the Fundamentalists in any religious group.
