There you go, things are now unsafe enough that every home needs a gun and a guard animal, dog or cat. Unfortunately, most cats would not be good guard animals, as they would sleep thru anything and even if they didn't, they probably would be too apathetic or afraid to go wake their owner. Would probably just go hide somewhere quietly...
