@FrayedBear Wild cats, not feral. Those suckers would tear a grown man a new asshole. They had been hunter for trophies and fur since the 1600s. They are one of the keystone predator species.

@glennlab I've never encountered lynx \ bobcats. Here in Australia the problem is feral domestic cats. Here's a good article on the matter:

@FrayedBear These cats have been in North America since prehistoric times. A feral is a domestic that is allowed to run free. Just as we have wild hogs and feral hogs. The wild hog dates back millions of years, the feral hogs were released by the Spanish in thee 1400 and 1500s as a source of food for future colonization efforts as well as domestic releases in the ensuing years.

To answer your question, a domestic can become feral when they are released into the wild, they can be redomesticated. A wild animal cannot be fully domesticated, they may become docile, but they remain wild animals.
