No, my cats play with it to tease each other.
The best way I have found to get mine to play is to play with them. I have an old fishing pole that I can which toys to. They never seem to get tired of playing with the toy as long as I toss it around using the fishing pole. They follow it everywhere, over tables, chairs, into boxes, etc. I also have a sock filled with cat nip and tied shut that they will play with alone.

She plays with the spider too! Carries it around and leaves it in weird places.
I wondered if anyone else noticed the spider...
None of my cats were ever interested in the myriad of toys I would buy for them......just too damn lazy and spoiled I guess.

I got Mattie when she was 7 or so and I think I’m the only person who ever bought her toys. She’s properly spoiled now, at least.

The mouse has been thrown about 40 times but I think she’s ready for more.
What a pretty kitty. Love that chimera face!
