Took Nala outside on a leash for the first time yesterday...she seemed terrified and wanted right back in. Tried it again today, now she doesn't want to go back in!!!

Harness is safer but be careful, they can slip out of the harness if they try hard enough. After all, cats are liquid.

Every time I try to leash and walk a cat, I end up with a dust mop.

Nala is starting to enjoy it, not sure about Pixie, had her out for 5 min. today, and a garbage truck came by and freaked her, so we went back in.

A harness would be safer than something around their small fragile neck. Kitties can be choked very easily.

There's a pet store here I'm sure they have harnesses. I'll get one. I know a cat can slip out of a neck leash if it's a little too loose.

Please use a harness.

Good suggestion. I'll have one for her tomorrow. Finally lured her back inside. We're done outside for one day.

@Ray13 she won’t like the harness, so have it on inside till she gets used to it.

@Hathacat : Just got back from the pet store with one and the woman there told me that too. My back yard is fairly secluded from any traffic, etc., so that's were I keep them in when out. I'll keep you posted on how it goes😉

I put the harness on Nala...she does not like it. I may change my mind about taking my cats out because a few days ago (and not the first time) I saw a rather large dog wander through my back yard, unleashed! No one with it. What would happen if it came by with Nala out and decided it was going to have itself a cat? It's too bad a person can't take a pet out into their own yard without worrying about a dog attack. I'm not mad at the dog, it's the ignorant owners that piss me off. Don't know who they are or I'd say something.

@Ray13 oh wow, I don’t blame you! That’s not good at all. Even if it’s the nicest dog, your cat won’t know that, and the panic could cause so much harm.

@Hathacat That's right, she gets all "puffy & huffy" if she sees another cat outside. The dog would have to get through me first, and that wouldn't be good either. Well, so much for my idea of taking them out.😟

And there's just so much to investigate 🙂
