Sometime around 1:00 AM last night, I was awakened by Whiskers banging on my window screen. I had really hoped he would not figure out he could do that. I knew we were supposed to have heavy rain, which was predicted to start around 2 AM, so I got up. Went to the front door and called him . Of course he just sat on the edge of the roof and meowed. So, I got to ladder out and once my head on his level, he let me pick him up and bring him down. I opened the front door wide so he'd go in ahead of me, but he instead just keep rubbing up against my legs. So, I picked up the ladder and he shot inside. I put the ladder back in the garage and went back to bed because I wanted to to back to sleep. Whiskers had other ideas. He walked on me and snuggled up to be petted, and if I tried to roll over to go to sleep he'd gently paw at my cheek to get me to pay attention to him. This laster about 20 minutes, when he finally left to let me sleep. At this point I am told he showed up and walked on and woke up my sister to purr and snuggle with her. Only she said she remembered that at the time it was raining hard, and I don't remember the rain having started while i was still awake.

Anyway, about 5:00 AM Whiskers came back to wake me up because he wanted out again, even though I could heard it was still raining. He usually goes out the front door, which leads onto a covered porch area, and two of the three cats like to go out, I guess, to watch the rain from the porch.

Even with the weather warming up for Spring, I am not looking forward to the cat habing discovered he can get me up by banging on the window screen.

In past summers pretty much every cat we've had had discovered during the summer months when the windows are open that they can sit outside my window and meow to get me up to let them in. I was really hoping Whiskers, who is out youngest cat would not figure it out, even if he appears to be our smartest cat, I was still hopeful he wouldn't figure out he could used the window as a means to wake me up. Sigh ...

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
