When I learn how to search the US tax code, I will look for the tax break to owners who sell their businesses to their employees. I understand it’s often done with ESOPs, employee stock ownership plans.
There are multiple thousands of employee-owned businesses, and a large southeastern US grocery chain I visited when I lived in Florida did it.
