Yesterday, the day before Richard Strauss's birthday, JoAnn Falletta, Conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic, had her morning talk about Strauss's life and work. I try to be more knowledgeable about music and I always enjoy her presentations. She painted a rosey picture of Strauss, but did not mention other issues. R. Strauss was conductor of the German symphony during the NAZI years. There are issues to consider though. He had Jewish family connections, and may have wanted to keep them protected. He never joined the NAZI party, or was a participant in any NAZI rituals. Maybe Maestra Falletta could have addressed these points also.

Maybe she has something to hide herself.

Yes-she shows joy in the music she performs and conducts.

Yesterday there was a local art show, with a string duo. The art was interesting; the music was refreshing.

Hmm

Do you mean Richard Strauss, perchance?
