Is it important to let people know we do not believe in a deity and that the greater truth to existence is secular? I have been wondering about this somewhat. It's all a matter of perspective, what we give importance to, that changes how we see life and everything around us. It's not our responsibility and there isn't a need to turn someone else down when they have such a philosophy dear to their hearts that describes the world for them. No matter where the ideas came from originally, if they are valid in the sense of an ultimate truth, it is something they trust with their lives. It's something that has to be respected. Personally, I have reached a point in my life I cannot accept the existence of god as truth. I see things in such a different way that it's impossible for me to think that there could be anything akin to spiritual power in the world. When I go out and see the results of nature, I think about long time-scales, and how different organic matter fought for their current form of existence. It's not any less miraculous, but it is my own perspective.
