Pretty.

they are called purple shower here in Florida. (Popular name I guess). Crazy invasive. Any piece of root will regrow. They go deep too and under concrete slabs, then find a crack and get themselves growing in it

What I find interesting is all the blossoms fall at the same time. Then tomorrow they're back in bloom. I have to plant them in a "gated community" because our Key Deer love them. Bet they taste yummy. No I haven't tried.

This is an incredibly invasive species in Florida that does not actually provide much nectar or pollen to butterflies and bees. You are better off finding a native petunia for your region.

I agree that they are invasive. But they ain't going anywhere. LOL

Hummingbirds like them.
Once they are on the ground, you will never be able to get rid of it. 😣

@Zoohome I suspect the hummingbirds are drawn to them because of their color but don’t continuously use them because they don’t produce much nectar

@djs64 it's not my choice. They come back regardless how many times I have spent pulling it our and digging their roots

How do you go about doing that, finding native petunias? Last year I had a really beautiful insect that was attracted to my petunias, this year no. In the midwest though.

@Flowerwall do a google search for a local native plant society and or contact you your local agricultural extension office.
