Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett served for nearly three years on the board of private Christian schools that effectively barred admission to children of same-sex parents and made it plain that openly gay and lesbian teachers weren’t welcome in the classroom.

The Pope endorsed civil unions, not actual marriages. Up until around the 13th century, the Catholic church did do a ceremony similar to civil unions for gay couples. Religious scholars are still arguing about whether or not it was actually a kind of marriage ceremony. The Catholic Church has taken the position that the ceremony it wasn't marriage.
So, anyway, the Pope is just in favor of reinstating a ceremony dropped in the 13th century.
Of course she was. Does anyone expect anything different from this administration?

I think it is almost a done deal. 
@MikeInBatonRouge it will a dark day for the gay community when it does.
@freedom41 I cling to the hope the Dems win both chambers and the White House, then can either structurally change the court or quick pass some laws that offset the worst court rulings.
@MikeInBatonRouge I'm hoping for that too... if she gets enough votes. Several repoublican senators are out sick with Covid-19.
