For some this is going to hurt, a lot.

Animals taste - good. I'm not sure whether that's because i was raised on them; but I can't do without occasional bacon or salami or pepperoni taste; and i know an animal has to die for me to enjoy it...oh well..

Love dogs and cats, though!

I find interacting with animals interesting. There is the common belief that animals can recognize when a person is "good" or "bad." We always had dogs growing up and I had a dog or two for most of my adult life.

However, I often walk in a small park near my homes. I NEVER approach a dog without consulting his/her human first. In the 15 years I have been walking there, there have been three dogs who lunged at me without provocation. One was close enough to me (mind you I did NOT approach it--this was due to narrowness of path) to have bitten me if the owner had not pulled it back. Most other occasions, dogs have greeted me politely or just ignored me. Some people have said, "Wow, she/he doesn't usually like people!" when a dog has been super friendly.

So, am I sometimes a psychopath and sometimes ol' jovial Gwen?

Animals have personalities and quirks, just like people. It is both nature and nurture. I've had dogs that loved everybody, dogs that would only trust you if you were brought into the pack, and dogs that didn't care if they had seen you a thousand times, if you weren't in my presence they would take your arm off if you crossed the property line. I'd say it's not you, it's them ol' Jovial Gwen.

@glennlab we have reached much the same conclusion!

@Gwen_Wanderer Glad to hear it! As a 30+ year pet sitter, I can promise you that dogs have as many different responses as we do. It all depends on their conditioning/their past.

@pamagain exactly! I had a neighbor whose dog was not mean, but it would run loose and dig in my yard. She kept saying he was a "bad dog." No, she was a bad dog owner because she did not keep him restrained. Not only did he dig in the yard, but the semi-rural area in which we live, he was liable to get run over.

@Gwen_Wanderer How long did he live?

@pamagain she finally gave him away!

Wish that could happen!
