My ex-husband was one of six boys with no sisters. He used to tell me when the boys were born that he was glad they were boys. He wouldn't know what to do with daughters. I told him that if you have a daughter you have to worry about boys. But if you have sons you have to worry about everybody else's daughters. It really isn't different unless you make it so.
This was very much my parents attitude towards my brother.
I have had both sons and daughters. Believe me, parenting isn't for cowards!
