Why not?
I edit all the time. Sometimes, it's to correct a mistake in spelling or grammar that I didn't catch before I posted.
Sometimes, it's to add another thought, or properly restate something I didn't express clearly.
There's nothing wrong with editing. More people should do it. They might be better understood.
