@AnneWimsey well anne i guess someone might have died, but i doubt it, and i would at least suggest not reading those vv quite so literally, which you are of course free to ignore. But the genocides of the OT have been disproven, Jericho never had any walls, and the bible itself has vv that direct one to read on a different level, lest they be considered wise in their own eyes
@AnneWimsey or answer two, bears killed 42 kids for calling a prophet bald, if you prefer. Bc God sent them, even, fine. Go with that if you prefer, but you may not ever get the point of the passage, also, “bald” is symbolic, etc
so, hopefully you understand that i don't know, but that i have learned the symbolism for “bald, bears, and children,” even “42,” and once the symbolic story is figured out the literal story usually pales to irrelevance
