Glad i didn't post this, thought about it though, They nickled and dimed you to death, first for the film, then the flashbulbs, then processing, and add the printing, even if the picture was crap, you paid for it.
It was really expensive when you think about it. That and the fact that you had to know how to take a photo is why there were far fewer "photographers" back then. Now, anybody can take great pics with their cellphone and call themselves a Photographer.
@glennlab I agree, but I do enjoy the amazingly good photos I can take with my phone. But then I also lament that the title "photographer" is now essentially meaningless.
I currently shoot Canon and have a large collection of lenses (6.5mm to 800mm with a number of specialty lenses). I was a Pentax man for a long time until they gave up everything that made Pentax great. And I have a large collection o older equipment that now just collects dust. I tell people that the readonI never had a normal drug addiction like other kids because photography took all my money.
