They thought the one child policy was a good thing so maybe…
@Killtheskyfairy Even long before that. Female children were often drowned or sent away in the hopes that they would have a male child. I never heard of them cutting their nuts off though!
Rightly, now a marriageable-age daughter is literally worth her weight in gold (maybe 2x !).....I saw that day coming as soon as I heard about the policy!!!
@annewimsey500 yes, a lot of us saw that one coming. Also no aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Not very well thought out.
