A TRUE STORY.
My partners sister teaches in a school in Connecticut close to the school which had the shooting a few years ago. Last week the alarm went off indicating that there was a shooter in the school. Panic ensued as she tried to hide the students from windows and doors. It turned out that the alarm was just a trial of the system but the teachers were not told it was to happen.
Apparently she has been given a hammer to keep in her desk so that she could hide behind the door and bonk any nut with a gun who came in to the classroom.
Wouldn't it have been funny if the school principal had come in to tell her it was a false alarm had she had hit him with the hammer.

You cannot practice a reaction to horror if you have been pre-warned. Seeing what you Acually would do in a situation, and then tweaking it, could be literally priceless. Your criticism is foolish.

The teachers should have been told but not the students. The foolish thing is to give the teacher a hammer to protect herself and the students against a shooter.
Well, that was pretty crappy not to tell the teachers it was a test! Especially after all the mass shootings in schools!
