Trump doesn't want a border wall for security, he wants the wall because he doesn't want to spend a dime actually helping these people.
Even if Trump got his money it would be years before there was 1 ft. of wall. Imminent domain has to be done one property at a time. There has to be a environmental impact study done, and desert ecosystems are fragile and you have to look at migratory species, which could rule out a wall for several reasons.
