Water Self Sufficiency.
Looking for ideas on this one, for myself, but also to pass on. There is rain water harvesting of course, reusing grey water for gardens, if you are lucky and have a river or creek nearby you can pump, perhaps you can get ground water. Then there are ways to reduce water use, drip irrigation, low flow shower heads, drinking beer instead of water. So, any suggestions for using less or obtaining more, without accessing reticulated town water supplies.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Don't cut grass.I've noticed that in dry times the plants collect drops of moisture from vapour at night which rolls down to roots.I'm sure that many plants survive like this yet never heard of it before.
Obviously the longer the leaf the more it collects.

it will probably resolve, I have had days when pics won't take, then suddenly they do.
Believe it or not our area is considered a drought area in the summer. In years past we would do things like wash dishes in a basin and then use the water for plants. When we took showers we would put a basin in the shower and reuse it. In the summer we bought a solar shower bag which only contained 4 gallons. Hang it in the sun and it gets hot. We always took showers outside with the solar shower bag.
I only have 5,400 gallons of harvested rainwater which has to last 5-6 months. It's easy by myself but we still managed when there were two of us.

I did similar years back, I lived in a caravan while I built a house in the bush, open fire, solar shower bag and 3000 gallons of rainwater, got down to about 50 gallons once, and it rained. Even when I built he house, the shower and washing machine were plumbed to empty into a fruit orchard.
@Rugglesby I also have a well. The water, though, is hard. We used it until the collection system was finished. I can use one or the other but recently discovered the well has bacteria. Rainwater harvesting is also full of bacteria but it can be filtered and an UV light to sanitize it. I don't have that for the well. Even getting water can be complicated.
