Actually, I don't think it will be all that bad.
Consider: London survived him intact.

Petter Level 9 July 23, 2019

Mayor of London is not really comparable to being PM.

Brexit will have a big impact on London.

@FrayedBear On everywhere.

@Marionville Hopefully so. Then Britain can go back to being able to import Australian and New Zealand sheep and butter, etc plus unrestricted amounts of cane sugar and get away from watery Danish bacon (20% would you believe, thanks to EU legislation.)
Do you remember the days when the commonwealth was a magnificent trading bloc?
Too many "doom merchants" are pessimistically forecasting the end of the world.

@Petter Not sure about your views....they’re opposite of mine,

@Marionville Time will tell!

@Petter True.

@Petter I have no problem buying New Zealand lamb or butter do you?
Actually the EU changed the BRITISH up to 20% water in bacon rule to 5% in 2011, then relented and allowed up to 10% after the UK objected to 5% being too LOW and then again in 2014 allowed up to ten % IF added water is included on the ingredients list, and who the changes to this legislation and lobbied for it? THE UK in a proposal by Uncle Nigel Farage

@Petter
"As a major importer of cane sugar, the EU grants duty-free access to the EU market to developing countries under the "Everything But Arms" (EBA) agreement and Economic Partnership Agreements with the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries."

EU commision rules on sugar importation.

@FrayedBear

Big impact?
Immediate nomination for understatement of the year award.

@LenHazell53 I saw that lamb have been getting over $AU 300 each at the local auctions.

@FrayedBear Yeah I buy it at Morrisons stores for £7.50 a pound not cheap but worth it.

@LenHazell53 We don’t have Morrison’s in NI. I very rarely buy lamb as it’s always very expensive.

@LenHazell53 NZ produces more cheaply than Australia. When I first came here I used to buy New Zealand rump steak at about a third the price of Australian.

@LenHazell53 That price however is dearer than what it is here but transport to you is further. I'll get back to you with our current supermarket price.

@Marionville, @Petter Better still, stop eating bacon.

@Red_Cat Bacon is not a problem here in N.Ireland...we produce our own and are an exporter of bacon and other farming and dairy products to GB and Europe. I never eat any imported bacon , beef or butter.

@Marionville I was thinking more along the lines of reducing red meat consumption. Worldwide.

@Red_Cat Yes...we need to do that of course...I actually eat a lot less red meat and bacon than I used too anyway,

@Marionville @Red_Cat Being a true colonial, I consume plenty of beef, butter, bacon and full cream milk.
I will condescend to the odd portion of Chicken leg, but I find chicken breast to be tasteless. Turkey is preferable.

@Petter Not sure what a "true colonial" is, and why that means you automatically consume the stuff you listed. Reducing red meat consumption is desirable because animals fart, belch and excrete. This is a major contributor of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, to our belaboured atmosphere.

@Red_Cat I’m at a loss to understand either!

@Petter Lordy, Lordy, Lordy ....Petter! Are you trying to go out in style? I’m surprised your arteries haven’t burst!

@Red_Cat I grew up on dairy farms and cattle ranches in Kenya. I fart, belch and excrete.

@Red_Cat, @Marionville My arteries are holding up nicely, my cholesterol levels are low. Why? Because I don't eat hamburgers, chips and such. A grilled or barbecued steak accompanied by vegetables satisfies me. Also, I eat in moderation - which is what our species was designed to do.
Hence my weight has never been above 160 pounds, and is currently 145 pounds.

@Petter Glad to hear it...btw where are you now?

@Marionville In Godalming, near Guildford. I've just posted a photo of a plaque in Oglethorpe Court.
It honours the founder of the state of Georgia, USA.

@Petter I know Godalming very well indeed...my husband’s company (pharmaceuticals) had its head office in Godalming. What was the founder’s name?

@Petter Don’t we all do that...at least to maybe a lesser degree than you!

@Marionville Can you not guess from the fact the plaque is in Oglethorpe Court? 😂🤣
If fewer people OVERATE, mainly on hamburgers and sickly sweet milk-shakes, there would be fewer methane belching cows needed!! After all, men have been herding cattle for thousands of years, but IN MODERATION.

@Petter Em... could it have been James Oglethorpe of Godalming in Surrey perchance? 🤣🤣🤣

@Marionville As posted elsewhere on Agnostic.com

@Petter You don't fart, belch and excrete as much as a cow, and it takes a lot of land to feed a cow. Much more land than if we did not farm cows. That is my argument. You will not need to read the linked article but I post it for the benefit of others:
[smithsonianmag.com]
By the way, glad to hear the good news about your arteries.

@Petter Just a quick reminder: our species was not designed, it evolved like all the others.

@Red_Cat I'm working on my farts and belches! 🤣😂
OK. It evolved to work best on an omnivorously varied diet as though it were a design specification.
Come to think of it, that would cover "intelligent design" requirements rather well!!

@Petter But Intelligent Design implies a designer, does it not?

@Red_Cat 'It EVOLVED to work best on - whatever - AS THOUGH IT WERE AN INTELLIGENT DESIGN."

@Petter Also, you wrote, "Come to think of it, that would cover "intelligent design" requirements rather well!!" Hence my reply.

@Red_Cat Precisely. Those people who insist on 'intelligent design" should be told that plants and animals have evolved to work best as though it were intelligent design.

@Petter Why is it not enough to prove evolution has produced us all, out of necessity to survive?

@Red_Cat Because creationists insist on calling it a theory - and claiming that their religion inspired creed is superior.
Of course one can also ignore them, but then they become emboldened and pass silly education laws to ram their half-wit ideas into the minds of impressionable children.

@Petter I'll stick to promoting evolution, and not mix it up with the theory of "intelligent design". Thanks for the chat.

Sad for us who have to bear his antics.

The bloody fools have done it....

Sofabeast Level 7 July 23, 2019

Sadly!

What nationality is he?

FrayedBear Level 9 July 23, 2019

English of mixed heritage...there’s French, Russian, Lithuanian and Turkish in his ancestry. Judaism too in his ancestry, and one of his ancestors is described as a “secular Moslem “...never knew there was such a thing as that would make him an apostate and he probably had to flee from....Turkey presumably. He has dual U.K and US citizenship because his father was studying at Columbia University when he was born in New York. His lineage comes down from George II on his father’s side. His mother has an impressive background too and was Charlotte Fawcett an artist and intellectual prior to marrying Stanley Johnston, Boris’s father,

He's a pedigree nincompoop from a long line of bourgeois upstarts, mincing ninnies, fiddlesome fops and doodling dandy Pratts.

@LenHazell53 Couldn’t have put it better myself.

@LenHazell53 You talking about me again?

@Petter only if the cap fits.

@Petter, @LenHazell53 D'ye mean he is a namby pamby given to verbal diarrhoea and facial flatulence?

@Marionville thanks for the potted genealogy.

@Petter No you're not a Fop
