We’re staying in Norway today and a modern take on an old Norse Fairy Tale - Ostenfor Sol Og Vestenfor Mane ....or in English - East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon. Pal Waaktaar-Savoy of Norwegian band a-ha took inspiration from the tale and wrote the music and lyrics to this song, which became the title track on their 4th album in 1990. Here they sing it in a live recording in the studios of NRK the Norwegian state TV company. I can’t tell you how much I love this song...it’s one of my favourites by my favourite band. This is the best version of this song, Morten Harket’s voice...faultless in both pitch and tone.

I suppose I should not comment but really this jut does not do anything for me. No desire to ever listen to it again. It is not unpleasant, just lacking anything to commend it. I would not categorise it as world music other than it is music made in the world.

Sorry M, it seems that I am no fan of Aha.

@rogerbenham That’s fine with me...I don’t expect everyone to appreciate them.
