I’m just back home after leaving my son Neil to the airport…I’ve had a wonderful weekend with him over here on a visit. We packed quite a lot into the two days…yesterday it was the Mourne Mountains in Co.Down, today The Sperrin Mountains this morning and after lunch a visit to The Seamus Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy, Co. Derry, a visitor centre and museum in honour of the Poet and Nobel Laureate. Fittingly then I’ve decided to post Danny Boy, beautifully sung by Irish Tenor Emmet Cahill…the tune of which is also known as the ‘London’derry Air.

Yes…there are so many terrible renditions of this song, it’s great to find one that is sung so beautifully.

The song was written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly originally to a different tune then adapted to "Londonderry Air" later.
