The time of the year will soon be upon us on this side of the world for the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Sweden provided us with probably the best know winning song “Waterloo” in 1974 and launched ABBA’s career, making them one of the most successful groups of the past 50 years. Sweden has won the competition on five other occasions too…the last time in 2015 when Mans Zelmerlow won it with Heroes.

Completely silly, but I still enjoyed watching it.

@Beowulfsfriend says he watched it last year on one of the US streaming channels. It’s always held in May, hosted by the previous year’s winning country. It will be held in Italy this year as Italy won last year. The Will Ferrell movie was a comedy based on the real competition.
@Marionville @RhondaShotwell Peacock did the finals and it looks like they will do them again.
No thanks. For me "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony" was easily the best. Mind you I'm not obsessed with Scandinavia.

I hate to disillusion you Roger bur I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing was never a song in the Eurovision Song Contest. Ireland have actually been the most successful country in the history of The ESC….maybe it was Dana singing All Kinds of Everything you were thinking of!
@Marionville I've not watched it possibly since the 60's. I've not watched TV since 1979 when I realised that I was addicted to it. I don't like being addicted. I have to avoid sitting in places where there are flickering screens as they pull me in. Another reason that I do not carry a mobile (cell) phone.
I watched the finals last year. One of the US streaming channels had it in.
