Question

I’m sticking pretty close to home this morning….just across the border from Co. Tyrone where I live to Donegal….with an Irish folk ballad - The Auld Triangle. Sung by a trio of Irish lads - Tom McHugh, Deane Connaghan, & Diarmaid McGee …and with Declan Gaughan on guitar - in the middle of a forest at sunset in Ards Forest Park.

So familiar to me. So many times I listened to the Dubliners singing this. I think my mother likely approved as she was fiercely on the Irish side. Her mother, Dr Ella Webb, had opened many clinics for IRA wounded and has quite recently been strongly praised by the Red Cross. Both hated the Black and Tans. So much history in Ireland dwelt upon the terrible treatment of the Irish by the British and the horrible Scottish bigots who poured in.
