We are now getting into the season of Christmas music, whether we believe in god or not it’s an inescapable fact.…I myself am rehearsing for our choir’s two concerts at the end of next week. This is one of the pieces we will be performing and one of my favourites …it is based on French composer Maurice Ravel’s Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte, arrangement by Patrick M. Liebergen words by Jean Anne Schafferman.
Pavane For A Silent Night. - performed by Bel Canto Choir in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Beautiful tune. Do you ever have any orchestra backing when you perform or is it just your choir alone?

We have a wonderful pianist who also is the accompanist for the Belfast Philharmonic choir at their rehearsals. We also have a timpanist for certain pieces and a couple of choir members are multi instrumentalists on a variety of instruments such as the flute and the saxophone.

Interesting. I do not know this piece. Pleasant.

It’s a lovely piece to sing, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Ravel original…

@Marionville Yes, probably
