Today is my late husband Peter’s birthday…he’d have been 77 had he still been here with me. It was interesting that he was not really what you’d call “ into music “, although he was very supportive of me and my musical pursuits…always making sure he was at home on the evenings I needed to be at choir rehearsals or solo performances when the children were young. At least as far as that was possible, and he wasn’t out of the country working overseas at the time. He also came and listened and applauded my concert appearances dutifully…even the more highbrow repertoires which I know were really not what he’d normally have spent an evening listening to by choice! There are however a few pieces of music that he could instantly recognise and even love, and this from The Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar is one of them…so for Peter on his 77th birthday here is Nimrod - performed by The London Symphony Orchestra…
Same age as I am. Two months younger. Did he like science fiction? My own theory is the whole universe is an illusion.
No…he read a lot…but never science fiction!
@Marionville My comment was only about the video done to Nimrod. To my mind there was only one really good science fiction "Rendezvous with Rama" Arthur C Clarke. But Ray Bradbury was a good writer.
This is beautiful.
With the exception of a ''very few'' songs by a ''very few'' singers, Rick was not into music either.
He liked trains if I remember correctly Patricia…didn’t he have a model railway set up! Peter loved steam trains and was a member of the local Steam Railway Preservation Society.
@Marionville Yes, Rick had one of the bedrooms converted into his train room. It's reverted to a bedroom now of course, but I have many videos of them.
A beautiful piece of music! We are all stardust and I am quite sure Peter's stardust is out there as part of everything good and lovely. 🥰 Happy birthday Peter.
Thank you Rhonda.
Beautiful! This piece has made every ''favorites'' list in my life. The video's perfect! It's fun to think that Peter's listening!
He’s out there…part of the Cosmos somewhere I’m sure….
