When talent wins out over looks! Kurt Nilsen was nearly eliminated in the audition round of Norway’s Idol singing contest because the judges didn’t think his looks were a good enough fit to win..but his voice was so good they decided to put him through anyway. Not only did the public love him but he won the competition. Then when he was put through to represent Norway to compete in the International World version of Idol….he won that hands down too, beating The USA’s Idol winner Kelly Clarkson into second place!

Yes…I’ve said the same thing.
Kurt is wonderful!! I wonder if he's any relation to Harry Nilsson? The last names are spelled differently, but boy does Kurt resemble Harry.

@Marionville Yes, he was American, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1941. He was so popular here and I was so sad when he passed away from a heart attack in 1994. When I looked at pictures of both men side by side, I could see a resemblance. Maybe they are related somehow.
k.d.lang got the same thing over & over again, & it was Johnny Carson who said, just pay attention to her voice!
Far too much is based on looks, & that's crap!
