Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.When i'm out on a long bike ride, I don't listen to anything, but I do often get earworms of songs that approximate the cadence I am targeting. For a brisk cadence, I often get "Mellowship Slinky in B Major" (Red Hot Chili Peppers) stuck in my head. For a long, slow hill climb, "Grind" (Alice in Chains) seems to work.

No jog for me it's 0°F with a -19° windchill factor, and my prep for the 30 drive on icy roads was an old army cadence that kept running through my head:

@JimG You just triggered all my boot camp memories! I miss military cadences. I went through Army boot camp back in the 90's during the Winter. During my tenure in the military, I always loved going to military training exercises or "the field" during the coldest days.

@SleeplessInTexas I went through basic training at Ft Leonard Wood in January 1988 and in April 1990 at Ft Knox. I didn't know going from national guard to active duty while reclassifying into combat arms meant repeating most of basic training.
I spent some brutal nights in OP's in some pretty awful places. During cold weather survival training in CO we got wind chill factors down to -60°. Our platoon leader was relieved for not leading his assigned patrol. I guess I prefer hot weather to the extreme cold.
